Retail

Retail is in a state of disruption.

However, this isn’t new. Retailers have always had to adapt to shifts in customer behavior and competitive threats. What is new is the speed and scope of change and how fundamentally these shifts can disrupt established retailers.

Retail is the largest industry in the world, meaning the data generated by the industry is the largest bulk of data in the world. That means operationalizing this back-end data in the retail industry is the largest opportunity in the world.

However, new and innovative retail concepts don't always mandate technology, vast supply chains, or even massive retail marketing campaigns. Customer-centric thinking remains the bar by which retailers have been and will continue to be measured.

The days of data-less decision-making of merchandise display, store experience, and customer customization are over. Clothes thrown on racks displayed in open and drab spaces with no unique experience is simply a thing of the past. The blending of customer and data centricity will enable you to engage with your customers successfully in the future.

Retail is in a state of possibilities and opportunities.

Workplace and talent

The workplace is changing.

We are starting to work differently, but are we doing so holistically, or are organizations doing so in piecemeal, costing employee productivity and passion? It’s likely that workforces are asking themselves, is work-life balance a misnomer and can purposeful work be a reality? These questions are important as they represent the concerns of your most valuable resource, your people - your talent.

At the core of these concerns is an organization's ability to foster real and holistic change that starts at a cultural level. From there, workplace programming can be developed that spans all areas of the organization including, but not limited to training, such as reskilling and upskilling, development, such as intrapreneur programs, and naturally recruiting and performance management. Developing your workforce into a purposeful and productive resource is our goal for you. Together, with our partners, General Assembly, the leaders in education and career transformation, we are ready to help you evolve.

Mobility

How we move matters.

Urbanization, the increasing scope of delivery, new motorization formats and the widening gap in infrastructure expenditures has put us face-to-face with an abundance of near-term mobility challenges. New consumer habits, ranging from ride hailing to scooting, have contributed to the quickening pace of new mobility demands. We are at the proverbial crossroads of what getting from point A to B means for urban and rural dwellers alike. Once a privilege, now a self-declared right to ownership, mobility is shifting once again. Service and subscription based mobility is gaining traction.

What are the future roles of our transportation modes? What infrastructure will exist to cater to the modes of transport that consumers gravitate towards? The car is central to this discussion as we currently live in a car world. Investors have poured $220 billion into electric, self-driving, and on-demand vehicles in the last ten years. But do we need more cars? A bet on non-cars is bet against what we spent a century building. Will the car eventually become a hobby, like that of riding a horse?

Beyond the vehicle question, the challenge remains of how to develop strategies that link tangible future mobility solutions together, creating a mobility net for urban and rural populations that will match their expectations of comfort and convenience. Whether transportation modes are shared, electric, aerial, or all of those combined, we know that the coming decade offers exciting opportunities to develop new solutions.

Let’s move together towards the future.

Tech and Innovation

Technology for today.

It’s been almost a decade since Marc Andreessen offered his now well-known viewpoint on the speed and spread of technology; put simply “software is eating the world.” As we know software has eaten the world, and continues to disrupt industry after industry. Platforms have become the norm spawning new business models and unbundling services from organizations that were not prepared for the dramatic technological shifts of the last decade. Why didn’t organizations see the impending importance of technology’s role in their industry? We believe this is due to two important factors.

First, technology must be at the core of an organization and not sequestered to defacto technical ‘responsible’ departments. The technology strategy from the core of the organization should be unified. Machine Learning, virtual reality, augmented reality, and blockchain technology, to name a few, might all seem like disparate topics, however, they are all interlinked. Having a strategy for one or another without a broader core strategy will result in disjointed approaches. We believe that the technological future holds the opportunity to bridge all technologies for an organization's success.

Second, successful technology is human centered. Organizations should strive to develop at the crossroads of users' needs and an organization's goals. Shouldn’t technology enable you to pay as you wish, open doors for discovery, understand you? Technology should support you. When customers ask, ‘why can’t I do that on my phone’ it showcases a need that is unfulfilled.
