Three Questions for…Sasha Samochina

What can we learn from how NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory collaborates remotely, visualizes data, and creates interactive experiences in AR? On our fourth episode of ‘Three questions for…’ I sat down (virtually of course) with Sasha Samochina, Deputy Lead of the Ops Lab, at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, to gain deeper insight on how technology can  better connect us at work during the COVID-19 crisis and beyond.

For Sasha and her team, working with remote collaboration tools is business as usual. Utilizing  Hololenses, Sasha and her team are able to “put eyes in a place where eyes can’t be”. So how can we use AR to create experiences that allow us to go deep remotely when we’re not at our workplaces?

During the COVID-19 crisis the importance of data visualization has become more pronounced and has gained mainstream acknowledgement. Sasha was quick to point out that,  “we’ve been all becoming data scientists to flatten the curve.”

Just as space is a challenging environment, in our current challenging environment it is a positive sign to see that NASA and Sasha are pushing the human spirit forward. Big thank you to Sasha for such a great conversation.
